The Canadian bottled water industry has been growing rapidly over the past decade. Many Canadians drink bottled water on a regular basis.

The boom in consumption of bottled water has moved the product beyond the niche market and into the mainstream as bottled water has become a basic staple to many Canadians.

With respect to regulations, in Canada bottled water is regulated under the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations as a food product. The Food and Drugs Act creates identity standards, provides a basis for labeling requirements and establishes the safety parameters for bottled water and all other food products. Manufacturers and importers of bottled water are inspected and monitored by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to help ensure that the products are safe and wholesome.

There are about 70 domestic brands of Canadian Bottled Water.

Matching Bottled Water With Food
The FineWaters Balance categorizes the "mouthfeel" of water based on the level of carbonization in five steps from Still to Effervescent, Light, Classic and Bold. This categorization is the basis of matching water with food in a fine dinig experience.
The Flavor of Bottled Water
When tasting water the most important factor in its overall integrated sensation we call flavor is the mouthfeel generated by the size, amount and distribution of the bubbles or the absence of it.
