Palmense del Piceno

The water from the "Palmense" spring, rich in calcium carbonate, was famous even in ancient times. During work on the drinking water supply system of Piceno, workers unearthed a wall section next to two water discharge shafts which formed part of the ancient well. Archaeologists working nearby identified the structure as belonging to the thermal springs of the ancient town of Palme, whose inhabitants clearly knew and took advantage of the water's healing power.
