The Source The age of the water has been determined by the Ångström Laboratory
at Uppsala University to be around 5,000 years old. More
exactly, 5,245 +/- 75 years. The mineral water from the underground aquifer
under the headquarters in Yngsjö in southern Sweden is thereby the oldest
of all Swedish bottled mineral waters.
At the source in Yngsjö there are geological conditions that are perfect for
ensuring excellent water quality. The mineral water from Yngsjö comes from a
groundwater reservoir that lies at a depth of around 200 meters under the
earth's surface. Furthermore, Yngsjö is a lovely idyll near the sandy beaches
along Hanö Bay, protected from extensive land exploitation and large
industrial companies that can cause environmental problems.
The mineral water originally fell as rain over Linderöd Ridge. This
happened several thousand years ago. Then the rainwater made its way, so
infinitesimally slowly, down through the ground under the beech
forests, after which it was then transported naturally and
filtered through different layers of soil, clay, gravel, bedrock and
limestone until it formed an artesian aquifer 20 kilometers to the east under
the Malmberg property in Yngsjö. The pressure in our source is so powerful that
the water, when discovered, burst in a fountain-like pillar to a height of
4½ meters in the air. From this source, the mineral water flows at
around 180 liters per minute by its own force. During its journey down
through the earth over the years, the water has been enriched with minerals
and salts. In this natural way, Malmberg Original has acquired its balanced, low
salt content and fine mineral composition.
