Using the largest fresh water spring in Montana, Giant Springs provides bottled water products of exceptional purity and taste. Giant Springs is located in Giant Springs Heritage State Park, near Great Falls, Montana, and was first discovered and named by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805. In his journal, Lewis wrote: "I think this fountain the largest I ever beheld.....the water of this fountain is extremely transparent and cold.....is very pure and pleasant."
"It's Pure Montana" originates high in the Little Belt Mountains of Montana. Rainfall and melted snow filter down through cracks in the 250 million year old Madison Limestone Formation, beginning a 3000 year journey to Giant Springs. Carbon-14 dating has shown that the water has been confined in its aquifer for more than 2900 years and thus has been protected from man-made pollution. Indian legends reveal that Giant Springs water was considered to be directly connected to a Blackfeet Indian Sun god.
