Aqua-Pura - Latin for clean, pure water - was named by the ancient Romans who colonised the site some 2000 years ago. More recently modern scientific analysis has proved what has been known throughout the centuries: Aqua-Pura is a water of exceptional clarity and beneficial mineral content. As such Source Aqua-Pura has been given the highest rating that the EC awards.
Source Aqua-Pura is located in the remote Cumbrian hills and is extracted from 100 metres below ground. It originates as rain falling from clouds driven onto the hills from far out in the Atlantic ocean by the prevailing Westerly winds. It is then naturally filtered, over decades by slowly percolating through a mass of ancient porous sandstone which was formed over 200 million years ago. It then collects deep underground in our aquifer - the largest in Europe.
