Premium Water Summit in Barcelona

The two day Summit will take place on the 5th and 6th of May 2008 at a luxury hotel in Barcelona, with a full program of discussion panels, presentations and networking sessions; as well as cocktails and a gala dinner.  The application deadline is 12th February, 2008.

Fifty people have been invited to this “Premium Water Summit”, as we have decided to call the meeting. These people reflect, to the best of our knowledge, the people who define the industry today. But obviously our scope is limited, so if you know of somebody you think ought to be present, please let us know.

For some time now, there is a need and a general desire to establish an informal network between the owners and top executives in the industry, and possibly; to establish a framework for defining and facilitating its future growth.

Hopefully, the Summit will give us all an opportunity to better understand our industry. This is a very important objective. But, perhaps just as importantly, it may be the first step towards building an informal network which will help us to address and resolve the challenges and conflicts of interest which we anticipate will increase, as the industry develops.

At the Summit we will present a proposal to establish a Premium Water Society. The society should promote the ethical standards and quality standards of the industry, and represent our joint interests.  If the summit is considered to have been a success, the Society will arrange a second Summit Meeting in 2009.

The Summit Programm also includes: a key note presentation by Michael Mascha, founder of finewaters.com and author of Fine Waters  - A Connoisseur’s Guide to the World’s Most Distinctive Bottled Waters; and a water tasting event hosted by leading sommelier and water expert; Nina Randel.

If you have any questions or comments, or for a possible participation please email : steve.rowe@wawali.es or jan@iskilde.dk.

We look forward to your reply and to seeing you in Barcelona!

Matching Bottled Water With Food
The FineWaters Balance categorizes the "mouthfeel" of water based on the level of carbonization in five steps from Still to Effervescent, Light, Classic and Bold. This categorization is the basis of matching water with food in a fine dinig experience.
The Water Glass
When one orders water in a fine dining restaurant it becomes rapidly clear that water is, in most cases, an afterthought. We have been served water in all possible contraptions from heavy whiskey tumblers to long highball glasses and the dreaded lemonade glass. A wide variety of wine glasses are also often used as water glasses. This is not appropriate.
The Flavor of Bottled Water
When tasting water the most important factor in its overall integrated sensation we call flavor is the mouthfeel generated by the size, amount and distribution of the bubbles or the absence of it.
