The 2006 bottledwaterworld magazine design
awards is now its fourth year and Zenith International
Publishing is scouring the global bottled water industry for the best
bottles in glass, PET, and alternative materials.
Beauty is in the eye of
the beholder of course and the winner may be a lightweight bottle using minimal
PET, a fine piece of PET machine tooling which catches the eye of the judging
panel, an excellent design in glass, or a fully recyclable bottle with the
promise of a more protected global environment.
Last year the competition
drew 110 entries from 24 countries with 10 categories in all covering the
various materials and also developments in functional and designer waters, with
further awards for best label, best closure, best marketing campaign and best
website.
The judging panel includes Europe's largest supermarket
Carrefour, French design agency Dragon Rouge,
PET equipment supplier R&D Tool and Engineering and flavour
specialist Mastertaste.
Past winners include the river
styled PET bottle by designer Ross Lovegrove for Ty Nant of
Wales, the fridge bottle from Spadel Group of Belgium, the
Icelandic Glacial PET bottle from Icelandic Glacier Holdings
with its inverted mountain base, Vöslauer of Austria for its
contemporary flavoured water range - in fact too many to mention - although
these all can be viewed online.
A full colour supplement is produced to
accompany the magazine in which every entrant is given full photographic
coverage. Global news coverage comes as part of the award.
Prizes will be
awarded at a glittering gala dinner being held on 19 September in Bergamo,
Italy, as part of the Zenith International Global Bottled Water
Congress.
This year receipt of entries is Friday 24
July - so not long now.
Entry details are available on line at www.zipublishing.com.
