Is “Trump Ice” Bottled Water Real?

Trump IceIn the episode 8 of the original series “The Apprentice” aired on February 26, 2004, the Donald’s challenge for the pool of apprentices was to develop and execute a Trump Ice Pure Spring Water distribution and sales strategy.

Donald gathered the teams and showed off a truckload of his branded water, Trump Ice. Donald then laid out the next task. Each team would be given the chance to distribute Trump Ice. The team that sold the most water in two days would win. The Project Manager of the winning team would then select two team members to accompany the Project Manager on Trump's personal helicopter for a tour of Manhattan. The losing team would meet Trump in the boardroom where someone would be fired. As usual, George and Carolyn would be Donald's eyes and ears. Each Team was given $ 500 budget for the challenge. Protégé won the challenge with sales of around $ 6000.-

So what happened to Trump Ice.? Is it a real product?

It seems that Trump Ice is a real product. It may be purchased at tony Manhattan eateries such as Fresco and Limoncello and at Gristede's Supermarkets in New York. It's primarily available at Trump's casinos, restaurants, golf courses and private residences. Trump Ice is bottled from springs near Laurel Run, Penn.

In a recent interview the Donald was asked about his foray into the bottled water business.

Q: Your name’s already on a lot of buildings. Why add water?
A: I did it at my casinos, and it was so good that people wanted to buy cases of it!

Q: What did you serve before? Volvic? Poland Springs? Fiji?
A:  I’m not going to talk about other waters, but this water is very good.

Q: What makes it so good?
A: It’s low-sodium—in fact, it has no sodium.

Q: And why such fiery packaging? It is fiery, isn’t it?
A: its fire and ice! The water puts out the fire.

Matching Bottled Water With Food
The FineWaters Balance categorizes the "mouthfeel" of water based on the level of carbonization in five steps from Still to Effervescent, Light, Classic and Bold. This categorization is the basis of matching water with food in a fine dinig experience.
The Water Glass
When one orders water in a fine dining restaurant it becomes rapidly clear that water is, in most cases, an afterthought. We have been served water in all possible contraptions from heavy whiskey tumblers to long highball glasses and the dreaded lemonade glass. A wide variety of wine glasses are also often used as water glasses. This is not appropriate.
The Flavor of Bottled Water
When tasting water the most important factor in its overall integrated sensation we call flavor is the mouthfeel generated by the size, amount and distribution of the bubbles or the absence of it.
