2003 Berkeley Springs Water Tasting Awards

Water. Celebrated in Berkeley Springs February 20 - 23, 2003.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV -- The award-winning Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting welcomes more than one hundred waters from across the country and around the globe on Saturday, February 22, 2003. Held in the historic spa town of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, it is the largest and longest running water tasting competition in the world.

A reception and awards presentation follow the judging at 9pm. Handcrafted fused-glass slump bowls created by Amingo Glass of Hedgesville, WV are presented as awards in the
municipal, bottled and still water categories as well as for purified drinking water and best packaging design. Billed as "black tie or bib overall optional," the reception features foods from Coolfont's Treetop Restaurant, water information, and bottling exhibits.

Judges for the 2003 Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting include representatives from National Public Radio, the United Nations Correspondents Association, Rudy Maxa's Traveler, Spa Magazine, The Washington Post, Canadian House and Home Magazine, Superpower Charleston Gazette, Baltimore Sun, Washington Times and Frederick News-Post.

Gold Medal Winner: Montpelier, Ohio (464 points)
Silver Medal Winner: MWD Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, (451 points)
Bronze Medal Winner: Desert Hot Springs, CA (435 points)
4th Place: Canora, Saskatchewan, Canada (426 points)
5th Place: Kinross, Kincheloe, MI (422 points)

The Non-Carbonated Bottled Water category:
Gold Medal Winner: Mountain Valley Spring Water, Hot Springs, AR (466 points)
Silver Medal Winner: Whispering Springs, Pierceton, IN (465 points)
Bronze Medal Winner: Avits Artesian Springs, Grayling, MI (463 points)
4th Place: Whistler Water Pure Glacial Spring Water, Burnaby, BC, Canada (460 points)
5th Place: Good Hydration, Grafton, Canada (458 points)

The Purified Drinking Water category:
Gold Medal Winner: Clear Creek Water, Farmington, NM (460 points)
Silver Medal Winner: Blue Moon Water Systems, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada (459 points)
Bronze Medal Winner: Seven Mills Water, Manassas, VA(452 points)
4th Place: Crystal Fresh Drinking Water, Belize City, Belize (450 points)
5th Place: StoneClear Distilled, Vanleer TN (441 points)
