Llandrindod Wells

In the heart of mid Wales is the picturesque Spa town of Llandrindod Wells, the County Town of Powys.

Look no further if you're in search of green hills and mountains, fresh air and relaxation - all part of the Spa experience.

The surroundings in the central heartlands of Wales are a revelation. The scenery here is really something special, rolling countryside all the way from the wide, open spaces of the Brecon Beacons National Park in the south, to the wild beauty of the Berwyn Mountains in the North.

Llandrindod is situated in a beautiful part of Wales, a refreshing region in which you can savour the atmosphere of traditional market towns, go walking along ancient pathways, enjoy the pleasures of touring peaceful roads and at the end of the day find a good choice of country house hotel, cottage, cosy inn or farmhouse.

This Spa town has much to offer the visitor, a delightful place to visit with a wide range of shops, a museum, a Friday market, live music events, various festivals and theatres.

The Rock Park Spa Centre is approached by a bridge over a stream flowing in a rocky ravine. Situated in a charming, small wooded park and of great importance to the town's history.

The present Rock Park Pump Room was built around 1867, restored in 1983. It now operates as a Heritage Restaurant where a well-known local chef will delight you with delicious healthy cuisine. To add to the tourist attraction, there is a Heritage Exhibition on the Llandrindod Spa. Next door, on the site of the old medicinal baths and treatment rooms, a successful Complementary Health Centre offers a wide range of therapies.

The Rock Park Spa is one of four sources of springs which made Llandrindod Wells famous as a Spa town. In the grounds there is the chalybeate marble drinking fountain

The Spa Centre is managed by the Llandrindod Wells Spa Town Trust which aims to preserve the historic site by creating a modern hydrotherapy centre, together with facilities for a range of complementary medicines. Several qualified practitioners are working here, and also working with the National Health Service - this is leading to a thriving medico-therapy business in the true Spa tradition.

The Rock Park is registered by C.A.D.W. as one of the historic parks in England and Wales.
