Along the great Kokubunji precipice line in western Tokyo Musashino the
streams of spring waters are located. Quietly but solidly the water flows in
peaceful environment.
Otaka-no-Michi, or road of hawks, named after the
Tokugawa Shogunate's hawk hunting area, accompanies a brook that runs along the
road. Albeit in Tokyo, nature in the area is strictly preserved - evidenced by
fireflies seen in summer as one walks Otaka-no-Michi.
The spring water
originates next to Pond of true figure. It is said that in 9th century beauty
Tamatsukuri Komachi cured her decease by washing herself in the pond.
The
spring water is one of 100 remarkable waters in Japan, selected by Ministry of
environment in 1985.
