One of hermitages which famous Haiku poet writer Matsuo Basho is said to spend 3
years in Edo-ra is located today in Sekiguchi, Bunkyo ward. One can find the
spring water flows out of backyard ravine.
The hermitage was lost due to
fire, and current structure was built after World War II. However, it still
attracts many visitors who come to see the rustic garden with trees, flowers,
Haiku monuments, and the spring water.
Even though the spring water flow is
small in volume, the cleanness of it makes some people taste the water.
One
of the Haiku monuments in the garden has the famous one is carved - "An old
pond, a frog jumps in - The sounds of water"
